How many statements do you mail each billing cycle?
How many billing cycles per year?

Calculation Assumptions:

The following savings works on the assumption that 30% of your citizens will switch from paper to CivicPay’s electronic statements. Additionally, we consider hard cost and labor: $.05 for an envelope, $.40 for postage, $.03 for paper, $19 clerk hourly rate, 3 minutes time for processing each check payment and hours to prepare the statements.

Estimated savings of per billing cycle

CivicPay’s impact on statements and the environment.

One of conveniences CivicPay provides citizens is the option for paperless billing. Citizens can select “Go Paperless” when registering for online billing.

Typically we see an increase in 20% of citizens go paperless once CivicPay is adopted. That saves on postage for you and helps the environment too.

How many shutsoff are performed each billing cycle?

Calculation Assumptions:

This calculator assumes that with CivicPay’s automated payments feature your agency will see a 15% reduction in shutoff activity due to the increased convenience of payment options between online, CivicPay Voice and CivicPay Pads. This also assumes a $50.00 cost for performing a shutoff.

Estimated savings of per billing cycle

CivicPay helps you manage payment plans to minimize shutoffs.

In early 2020, the state of California passed a law creating some of the most stringent laws protecting citizens from having their utilities turned off for non-payment. While we can’t fix the root of the problem, in response to that need, we added additional functionality to CivicPay that allows for better management of setting up and managing payment plans. These changes, that were originally created specifically for California customers, has been added to the standard set of CivicPay tools for use nationwide. Being able to provide payment options for citizens who are struggling to pay is a win-win. They continue to have access to critical utilities and the agency minimizes expense in shutoffs as well as has a better chance to collect on past due revenue that would otherwise be written off as a loss.
